Smile! - PDEC Wk#39

Happy Friday!

It is time for another wonderful challenge from Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges!!!
This week's question is:
Do you smile often?
Create any type of project with FACES (drawn faces, cut faces, stamped faces, etc.)

My answer to this week's question is ... YES!  I have a lot to be thankful for, therefore, I smile!  Let me list some of my reasons to smile:
1. My honey thinks he is the funniest person around.  He makes a lot of 'funny' jokes (or at least he thinks they are funny).
2. My honey is very silly.  He has an active imagination ... that can be a good thing or a very bad thing.
3. My kitties make me smile with their funny feline antics.  Bubbe likes to bring me paper 'treasures.'
4. I smile when I am please with a finished project.
5. When the birds are jumping from branch to branch in the bushes by my crafting window.
6. When one of the cats thinks they can catch the geckos on the window screens that are attracted to the bugs because of the light.
The list goes on and on.  I smile when I think of my PDEC Design Team Sisters and their wonderful creations.  Don't forget to stop by each of their blogs and post a comment to make them SMILE!  Let's get on with the show ... here is my 'Smile' project!

Isn't she adorable?  I just love my SIMPLY CHARMED Cricut cart.  It is so versatile.  Here are the details of my project:
Tag:  ELEGANT EDGES, pg 46, Heart2-s, cut @ 4.5" using Oblong and Shadow features
Scarecrow:  SIMPLY CHARMED, pg 57, Scarecw2 and all her layers cut @ 3.7"
Smile:  PAISLEY, pg 36, Frog2, cut @ 0.9" using Word/Word Blackout and Word Shadow features
Cardstock:  The Paper Company (Black, White, Lt Tan, Yellow, Light Green and Medium Pink)
Patterned Cardstock:  DCWV (Sweet Glitter Matstack)
Patterned Paper:  DCWV (Spring Fling and Summer Days Combo stack)
Ink:  Tim Holtz (Tea Dye Distressing Ink)
Color Medium:  Sukara (White Jelly Roll Pen)
Accents:  Making Memories (Mini Blossoms - Polo Mix) and Joann's (Round Mini Brads - Pastel)
Adhesives:  Scotch (ATG and foam tape) and EK Success (Zig 2 Way Glue Pen Fine Tip)

I loved using the patterned paper by DCWV.  This sheet has several stripes of different patterns and a lot of detailing at the top of the page.  I chose to use the stripes near the bottom so I positioned the cutting blade by placing the tag shadow on the paper and moved the blade to the correct length, removed the tag and proceeded to cut.  I like it when I can plan something and everything goes as planned.

Yellow and Red - PDEC Wk#37

Happy Friday!

Are you having a great week?  It has been wonderful around here.  The weather is getting cooler ... by a degree or two, at least we are not in the triple digits any longer.  We are expecting rain ... sure wish it would hurry up ... hope it doesn't miss us.

It is time for a new challenge @ Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges.  Are you ready for some COLOR?
This week's question is:
What does the word SCHOOL make you think of?  Yellow School Buses?  Red Apples?
Theme:  Use Yellows and Reds on your project.

Our Sponsor this week is

Prize is any three items from the Squigglefly store.

Here is my project for this challenge:

Yes, I chose to make a Yellow School Bus with a Red frame.  I had an important story for this week.  My hubby is now a School Bus Driver.  He is really enjoying the elementary and high school children.  I am so proud of him.  He looks very dapper in his new uniform.  This was the perfect transition from being an OTR driver to working locally.  After many, many years in transportation he was ready for a change.

Here are the details:
Tag:  ELEGANT EDGES, Heart2-s, pg 46, cut @ 4.5" using Oblong and Shadow features.
Frame:  STRETCH YOUR IMAGINATION, SclBus, pg 51, cut using Fit to Length (4.2") function and CardFrame feature.
School Bus:  STRETCH YOUR IMAGINATION, SclBus, pg 51, cut @ 1.7" using SclBus and Layer.
Cardstock:  The Paper Company (Black, White, Red, Yellow and Lt Blue)
Color Medium:  Sukara (Jelly Roll Pen, White)
Adhesives:  Scotch (ATG) and EKSuccess (Zig 2 Way Glue Pen Fine Tip)

This was a ton of fun to make.  It was quick and easy ... once I got the hang of 'Fit to Length' again.  The Card Frame feature on STRETCH YOUR IMAGINATION is based on the card sizes you use, so I had to put on my thinking cap for this one.
Now it is your turn to get our your tools and make a Yellow and Red project.

Hello Kitty New Car! - FCCB#128

Happy Monday!

Hope you had a terrific weekend.  I had a great one.  Sharon, my friend, and I went to an all-day crop.  It was a ton of fun ... eleven hours of cropping, laughing and general fun stuff!!!  Then I crashed on Sunday.

It is time for another wonderful challenge from FCCB!!

Theme:  Trains, Planes, & Automobiles
This week your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to
Make a project using some sort of transportation (Bus, Plane, Train, Car, Bike, etc.).

I chose to make a very colorful CAR shaped card!  Hello Kitty is so much fun to work with.  As I readied this cutie I could not help be get excited every step of the way.  I hope you enjoy my little jewel!

Isn't that just too much fun!  Although I don't use this cartridge alot, it is one of my favorites.  Here are the details.

Card Base:  HELLO KITTY, pg 64, HK15, cut @ 4" using Card feature.
Car and Miss Kitty:  HELLO KITTY, pg 64, HK15, cut @ 4" using White&Fur/Bow&Nose, and Clothes/Clothes
Inside:  HELLO KITTY, pg 64, HK15, cut @ 4" using Blackout feature.  I trimmed left edge to make flush when card is closed.
Cardstock:  The Paper Company(Black, White, Yellow, Medium Blue, Turquoise and Medium Pink)
Tools:  X-acto knife
Adhesive:  Scotch (ATG and Scrapbooker's Glue) and EKSuccess (Zig 2 Way glue Pen Fine Tip)

NOTE:  If using Scrapbooker's Glue use a very light hand as it can make your paper curl/warp.

Did you get your tools and paper ready yet?  Well, what are you waiting for?!?!?  You only have a week to get your project posted to FCCB!  Don't forget to ZOOM by my design team sister's blogs, they love {A COAT OF WAX (comment love)} just as much as you do.

Play It Again Belinda! - PDEC Wk#36 - Music

Happy Friday!

It is time for a new challenge @ Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges.  This week's question is:

"Do you play an instrument or wish you did?"
Make a project and include some type of MUSIC on your project.

Our sponsor this week is

Heather Ellis with a prize of any 3 digital items to winner.

This week was another fun one for me.  I do play several instruments:  piano, concertina (squeeze box) and the organ.  I took piano lessons for about eight years.  Most of those years were with Mrs. Rutschmann.  She was wonderful and a very strict and exacting teacher.  Being classically trained is a wonderful gift.  I learned even more by playing with the praise team at my church.  Not being too good at chording, working with the praise team was a crash course in chording and improv.  My favorite types of music usually have a 'boogie-woogie' type beat.  Here is my project for this week's challenge:
Tag:  ELEGANT EDGES, pg 46, Heart2-s, cut @ 4.5" using Oblong and Shadow features.
Girl:  PLAYTIME Lite, Andrea, cut @ 2.8"
Notes:  WINTER FROLIC, pg 45, Carol, cut @ 1.1" using Border feature.
Cardstock:  The Paper Company (Black, White, Brown, Tan and Ivory)
Patterned Paper:  DCWV (The Sweet Glitter Matstack - pink grid) and (The Spring Stack - pink and brown dots)
Fibers:  My stash (pink picot trim)
Color Medium:  Inkadinkado (Blending Chalks) and Pentel (1.0mm Black Energel pen)
Adhesives:  Scotch (ATG and foam tape) and EK Success (Zig 2 Way Glue Pen Fine Tip)

If you need more inspiration stop by my design sister's blogs and give them some {Comment Love} you can start @ Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges.  Now it is your turn to get out your craft supplies and join in on the fun.  Can't wait to see your excellent creations.  Also, remember to stop by our sponsor Heather Ellis' site and check out the digital stamps.

Now, turn up that music and get those feet to tapping while I boogie on down the road!

Hello Sweetie! - PDEC #35

Hello Friends and Crafters,

It is good to be back at my craft desk.  I have been away from my desk for two weeks.  One week I was on vacation.  Although I took my Cricut with me (I had a ton of projects to finish), I did not have ALL my blogging tools (photo software, my word files, etc.).  My sister and I did get a banner made for her classroom and several more projects which will be featured at a later date.  We had a ton of fun working with all the paper.  Only hard part was lugging it up and down stairs to our condo.  Then I spent another week here at home helping my sister get her classroom together for this school year.  Mom and I spent a day and a half working on Bev's classroom with Beverly.  We had a great time.  Until, I was poking my nose into a cabinet and the chair I was sitting in whooshed out from under me.  I hit the ground ... butt first and the chair rebounded back into my head and shoulders.  It was quite a site ... and boy did it hurt.  My rear was numb for almost a week.  I have huge bruises on my upper arms.  They are black and nasty looking.  I guess that is what I get for being nosy!!!  HA-HA!!!  Well, I am finally back in my craft room and can now sit for more than 5 minutes at a time ... and am WAY behind.

Are you ready for a new challenge @ Pause Dream Enjoy Challenge?  Well, I am ... albeit a bit late!  I missed the deadline for this cute project and it is NOT  a tag.  I thought that since the question was about mailing something to my BFF that I should make a card instead.  I will post a tag along the same lines later.  The question this week is "Do you mail your BFF cards?"  Our mission this week was to Create a "You're So Tweet" (chicks and birdies) project.

In answer to the question ... Yes, I mail cards to my BFF and many others.  I enjoy getting mail and I enjoy mailing stuff out.  So on to my offering for this challenge.
Isn't this paper fun?  I think it is wonderful.  All patterned cardstock is from SEI's chick-a-dee collection.  The paper from the birds body is called Tiny Bubbles.  All the cardstock in this collection is double sided.  Makes it so easy to mix and match.  Here are the details for this card:
Size:  3-1/2" x 5"
Black mat is 3-3/8" x 4-7/8"
Sunflower mat is 3-1/4" x 4.3/4"
Sentiment black mat is 5/8" x 1-15/16"
Sentiment mat is 1/2" x 1-7/8"
Bird:  GIVE A HOOT, page 57, Bird2 and Bird2-s, Layer and Layer-s cut @ 2.2"
Cardstock:  The Paper Company (Black and White), and SEI (chick-a-dee collection - coochie-coo, pretty pram, tiny bubbles and chick-a-doo collection - hickups)
Color Medium:  Pentel (Black Energel 1.0mm)
Adhesive:  Scotch (ATG and Scrapbooker's Glue)

Our sponsor again this week is Clear Dollar Stamps.  The winner of the weekly challenge will be awarded a $5 Gift Certificate to the Clear Dollar Stamps store.  This is a great prize.  Never know when you need a new image for that special project.

Have you stopped by to visit my design sister's sites?  If not, this is a great time to do that.  Pass along some {Tweet Comment Love} this week.  I am so blessed to be a part of this team of talented designers.  Also, get out your tools and create a 'Tweet' project for your BFF!  Then use the link below or stop by Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges and enter to win our 'Tweet' prize pack this week.  I have to go now and send this 'tweet' greeting off to my BFF.
Leaving you with a posy until next time ...

The Great Flamingo Hunt - PDEC Wk #33

Happy Friday Crafters,

I hope everyone has had a terrific week.  I am away on vacation ... yeah!  Sad this is our last day to play, but we have had a relaxing time at the lake.  Will get back to the normal routine well rested.  Are you ready for another Pause Dream Enjoy Challenge?  Well, I sure am.  I have missed my craft room, so here goes ...

The question this week is "How do Flamingos get so pretty in Pink?"  Well, I did a bit of research.  The pink color comes from aqueous bacteria and beta carotene that is obtained from their food supply.  Flamingos eat 'blue algae' and shrimp.  The mates are picked by their color.  The darker the pink the more healthy the flamingo, supposedly.

Pink is a wonderful color.  Pink happens to be one of my favorite colors.  I love all shades of pink and can be found to wear them often.  I even have pink clogs!  For women pink is a 'power' color.  Think of all the warriors who have bravely fought breast cancer and many other types of cancer.   Reese Witherspoon comes to mind when I think of pink.  Her role as Elle Woods in "Legally Blonde" was shaded with pink throughout.  I love that movie.  So the challenge at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges this week is to create a Flamingo or pink project

Even though I am a pink person by nature, I chose to take this in a different direction ... I hope Janis loves the irony of this project.  I chose to make Crocs dressing up in pink (as camo) to see if they could fit in to the Flamingo crowd.  Crocs, or in the case of the US, Gators are the biggest predator of Flamingos.  So, on to the 'Great Flamingo Hunt.'

Aren't these two Crocs just a hoot!!!  I think this is just too funny!  Hope you had a great LOL time with this one.
Here is the recipe:
Tag size:  4.5"
Tag:  ELEGANT EDGES, pg 46, Heart2-s, cut @ 4.5" using Oblong and Shadow features.
Croc1:  CROCS RULE, Swim, cut @ 2.5" with all layers
Croc2:  CROCS RULE, SwimSuit, cut @ 2.5" with all layers
Sentiment tag:  ELEGANT EDGES, pg 33, Doily-s, cut @ 1.8" using Oblong feature.
Cardstock:  The Paper Company (White, Pink and Hunter Green) and Bazzill Basics Paper (Watermelon)
Patterned Paper:  DCWV (Spring Fling and Summer Days Combo Stack)
Color Medium:  Sukara (White Jelly Roll pen)
Adhesives:  Scotch (ATG and foam tape) and EKSuccess (Zig 2 Way Glue Fine Tip)

Prize Alert            Prize Alert            Prize Alert
Our sponsor again this week is Clear Dollar Stamps.  The winner of the weekly challenge will be awarded a $5 Gift Certificate to the Clear Dollar Stamp store.  This is a terrific prize.  Never know when you need a new image for that special project.

As a reminder, stop by my design sister's sites and give them some Pink Comment Love this week.  I am so blessed to be a part of this team of talented designers.  Also, get out your tools and create a Flamingo or Pink project of your own.  Then stop by Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges and enter to win our pink-a-licious prize pack this week.  Now, I must go ... it is time for a Flamingo hunt of my own.

2012 Olympics Mania! - FCCB#124

Happy Monday Crafters,

Did you have a great weekend?  I sure did.  I am vacationing at the lake.  We had a great "Sister's Reunion" yesterday with my mom's sisters.  It was great getting together and celebrating family.  I will be enjoying good books, nice swims and great atmosphere at the lake.  Hope you have a spectacular week planned.

How about those 2012 Olympics?  I was on the edge of my seat watching the Beach Volleyball this year.  And how about our Gymnastics darlings?  I was so proud of all of them.  Can't leave out the Swim Team either.  The infectious laugh of Missy Franklin was such a delight this year.  Our hometown (well, I am claiming Granbury even if it is more than 50 miles away) cutie, Dana Vollmer, was back for another Gold metal moment.

In keeping with the Olympics The Fantabulous Cricut is celebrating the 2012 Olympics and our very own 'Olympic Team'!  Our goal this week was to make a project with a sports theme.   So, get out your tools and make your very own 'Gold Metal' project.  Who knows you might strike 'Gold' (or maybe a super prize and recognition) as one of the FCCB Top Five!!!

Here is my Olympic offering:
Here is the recipe;
Card size:  A2 (4.25" x 5.5")
  • Orange mat cut to 4" x 5.25" and cut diagonally to make 2 triangles.
  • Blue mat cut to 4" x 5.25"
Croc:  CROCS RULE, Swim cut @ 3.5" + all layers.
Cardstock:  The Paper Company (White, Orange and Hunter Green)
Patterned Paper:  DCWV (Spring Fling and Summer Days Combo Stack)
Accents:  JoAnn's (Mini Star Brads in Citrus and Patriotic) DCWV (Spring Fling and Summer Days Combo Stack - sayings and stars fussy cut)
Color Medium:  Sukara (White Jelly Roll Pen)
Adhesives:  Scotch (ATG and foam tape) and EKSuccess (Zig 2 Way Glue Pen Fine Tip)

Now it is your turn to make an Olympic or sports themed project.  Remember, to check out all of my wonderful design team sister's blogs for their projects, and give them some Gold Metal Comment Love

Just a little doodle before the toodles and happy crafting,
Blessings,

Around the Farm - PDEC Wk#32

Hello Crafters,

How has your week gone?  It has been a busy one for me.  Getting ready for vacation.  Going to the lake for a nice relaxing week.  There will be a big party on Sunday for the "Sister's Reunion" for my Mom and her sisters.  There will be six sisters in attendance and many cousins, nieces and maybe a few nephews.  It is a fun time.  August is a special month for us.  There will be at least four birthday girls there.  Some of the nieces and cousins have August birthdays too, just don't know which will be in attendance.  Too much fun!!!  Birthday wishes all around.  Well, let's get on to the project of the week for Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges.

This week at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges our challenge was to create a project from "Around the Farm".  Well, I have been around several farms.  My Nannie had cows and chickens.  During war time she sold her eggs to the local market.  My mom grew up with fresh milk, straight from the cow.  I am not fond of fresh milk ... don't like the floaties ... eeeeewwwwwww!  But fresh milk does make good butter.  Now mind you that my grandmother had nine children ... yes, you read right that is NINE!!!  With all those names to remember she made it easy on herself and named the cows for her girls.  Can you imagine you mother running down a list of names and forget and call you the same as the cow?  Well, naming her cows the same as her girls took care of that problem ... heehee!!  My mother also had a pet chicken that followed her everywhere.  Around that farm you could not get too attached to anything as it may wind up as dinner!!

My ex-husband, Brad and I raised our own beef and pork.  It was tons of work but sure good eats.  Did you know that a single pig will not eat as well as two pigs?  They like a little competition.  We did not name our pigs as I did not want to be eating 'Gracey or Ellie'.  Well, here is my little project for this week's challenge at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges.
Aren't these little pigs cute?  I sure think so.  Look at those curly tails.  Here are is recipe:
Tag size:  4.5"
Tag:  ELEGANT EDGES, pg 46, Heart2-s, cut @ 4.5" using Oblong and Shadow features.
Barn:  CREATE A CRITTER, pg 60, Cow + Milk cut @ 1.7" using Accessory feature.
Grass:  STRAIGHT FROM THE NEST, pg 41, Grass-s cut @ 1.8" and 0.4"
Pigs:  YEE-HAW Lite, pg 2, 7th image, Pig cut @ 1".  Used the Flip Function on one pig.
Cardstock:  The Paper Company (White, Black and Burgundy), Recollections (Sage), SEI (Chick-a-dee assortment - peach is flipside of Tiny Bubbles)
Patterned Paper:  Colorbok (Neutrals Pack - brown chevron), DCWV (Spring Fling & Summer Days Combo Stack - green spots) and SEI (Chick-a-dee Assortment pack - Tiny Bubbles and Birdies Buddies flip side)
Color Medium:  Sukara (White Jelly Roll pen)
Adhesives:  Scotch (ATG and foam tape) and EKSuccess (Zig 2 Way Glue Pen Fine Tip)

Now it is your turn!!!  With all the inspiration of my design team sisters you are sure to come up with a wonderfully clever project.  I know PDEC has some terrifically talented followers.  We, the design team love to look at your creations too.  So, stop by PDEC and enter your latest 'Farm' creation.

Set Sail - FCCB #123

Happy Monday Bloggers,

Hope you had a fun, relaxing weekend!  I bet some of you were in or on the water this weekend.  I will be next week for the whole week ... more on that later.

This week @ Fantabulous Cricut Challenge (FCCB) our theme was "Jump In and Cool Off!"  The weather has been fabulous for 'jumping in and cooling off'.  We were to create a project with a water theme (pool, beach, water park, etc.)  I chose to go with sailing.  On Lake Conroe we don't see a lot of sailboats, but there are a few.  I remember sailing with one of my cousins on Lake LBJ one summer.  He was very adept at  sailing and it was loads of fun, although I do enjoy a faster ride most of the time.  Give me a boat with a big motor and I am ready to play.   Well, back to my project.  Here is the card I made.

Recipe:
Size:  A2 (4.25" x 5.5")
         Mat is cut @ 4" x 5.25"
Sailboat:  WALL DECOR & MORE, pg 59, Sail-s cut @ 3.5"
Sailboat with waves:  WALL DECOR & MORE, pg 59, Sail cut @ 3.5"
Set Sail:  WALL DECOR & MORE, pg 59, Sail + Sail-s cut @ 1" Real Dial Size using Phrase feature
Cardstock:  The Paper Company (White and Turquoise) and Bazzill Basics (Denim)
Patterned Paper:  NRN Designs (Beneath the Ice)  This is about seven years old.
Ink:  Colorbox (Blue Iris Fluid Chalk Ink)
Accent:  JoAnn's (Opal Glitter Glue)
Adhesives:  Scotch (ATG) and EK Success (Zig 2 Way Glue Pen Fine Tip)

Usually the Sailboat with waves cut is put on the top, but I chose to put it the other way.  I wanted the wave effect to show more like real life than being swirls on the sail and as waves.  I am really pleased with the effect for this project.

Pop on over to FCCB and check out the creations of our marvelous design team.  Don't forget to stop by each of their sights and give them some comment {LOVE}!

Toodles and Happy Crafting,
Belinda

p.s.  I almost forgot.  Beginning August 11 through 18, I will be vacationing with my mom and sister near the Houston area.  We are excited to be going back to the lake again this year.  Mom and Bev enjoy fishing off our balcony ... yes, you read that right.  Our balcony hangs right over the lake and allows them to fish without getting a boat.  We also feed the ducks each morning and evening.  It is very relaxing to be out there.  Happy Sailing everyone!
