Father's Day Series - Day 1

Happy Saturday Bloggers,

I want to share a Father's Day creation today.  Every year I create three cards for our cats to give to my hubby, their 'Cat Dad'.  He really enjoys them.  This is the first of the cards for this year.  Sophie is our oldest 'feline fur-baby' and this is her card.

This is the front of the card

This shows a partial of the inside of the card.

Here is the recipe:
Size:  A2
Cat:  FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS LITE, Cat 1 and all layers cut @ 3.5"
Cardstock:  The Paper Company
Patterned Paper:  Flower Shower Spring Stack - DCWV
     Green mat cut @ 5.25" x 4"
Purple mat cut @ 5.25" x 4" then cut diagonally
Font:  WALLOWHMK (Hallmark)
Accents:  Lime buttons (Citrus pack - Favorite Findings)
Fibers:  327 - Dk Violet (DMC Floss)
Ink:  Rich Cocoa Momento (Tsukineko)
Adhesives:  ATG (Scotch), Glue Dots 3/8" (Glue Dots, Intl LLC) and Zig 2 Way Glue Pen Fine Tip (EK Success)
You can use the links above to view or purchase the items used in this card.

I love the little flower cut around one of the eyes.  This little kitty looks a bit like Sophie; she is an orange and white tabby with amber eyes.

This card is entered in the following challenges:
ATC's With Attitude - Anything Goes/Father's Day
Card Makin' Mamas - Ch# 47 - Father's Day
Inspire Me Fridays w/Joyful Stamper - Ch#62 - Anything Goes

PDEC 52 Questions - Ch # 23 - Beach

Welcome to my blog,

It's time for another Pause Dream Enjoy Challenge ... WooHoo!   This week we were to make a project depicting a 'Beach' theme.  Remember when you were a child and making sand castles on the beach?  Maybe you were the one who collected shells, like my sister.  Gather your craft supplies and start creating a masterpiece about your adventure.

If you want to see all 52 Questions for this challenge CLICK HERE.  You may enter at any time during the year.

52 Questions Week #23 Challenge
Create a project featuring a beach theme.

This was a hard one for me.  I am not fond of sand, therefore I don't really do much with beaches.  Also, I live about 300 miles from the Texas coastline.  With that said, I will tell you of my last visit (November 2010) to the coastline.  My family decided to spend Thanksgiving at Galveston.  We had not been there and thought it would be a great week of vacation play.  Well, it was even though the weather was foggy and a bit rainy for most of our visit.  Thanksgiving day was glorious; the sun was shining and the wind was minimal.  We stayed at Inverness by the Sea.  It was an older complex, but nicely appointed.  It was on the sea wall.  It was soothing to hear the waves mostly crashing, but sometimes gently lapping on the shore.  We mostly listened at night because the traffic noise during the day was louder than the waves.  One day of our trip we went on a ferry ride to Bolivar Island.  That was a great experience.  My first time on a ferry.  Loved watching the gulls fly around the ferry as we went too and fro.

Galveston has a lot to offer.  There are remarkable Victorian homes to tour.  There is a driving/walking tour to see the exterior of noteworthy homes.  Also, after the last hurricane many of the trees were destroyed and rotting.  The city decided to have a tree sculptor work on many of the trees in the area.  There is a driving tour to view this wonderful collection.  It was unbelievable what the artist was able to coax out of the trees.

Here is my card recipe:
Tag base:  ELEGANT EDGES, page 46,  Heart2-s cut @ 4.5" using Oblong and Shadow features.
Chair:  DESIGNER'S CALENDAR, page 46, Sat cut @ 2.5" using Events feature.  I cut this 2X.  On the orange cut I trimmed away the legs and attached it to the gray cut.
Shells:  STRETCH YOUR IMAGINATION, page 40, Shells + Layers cut  @ 1.5"
Cardstock:  The Paper Company
Patterned Paper:  Carolee's Creations (http://www.ccpaper.com/) and Colorbok
Ink:  Dark Brown Fluid Chalk Ink (Colorbox/Clearsnap)
Media:  Chocolate Brown Writer (EK Success)
Stickers:  Stickabilities (http://www.craftsetc.com/)
Adhesives:  ATG (Scotch), Zig 2 Way Glue (EK Success) and Xyron 500

PDE Challenge - 52 Questions - Ch# 22

Happy Friday My Bloggie Friends,

52 Questions Week #22 Challenge
Create a project featuring your favorite QUOTE or VERSE

Janis had another great theme for us to work with this week.  Featured on my tag is one of my favorite Bible verses.  Habakkuk was a funny prophet.  He railed at God for bringing destruction on Israel, particularly by the Chaldeans, in the beginning of the book.  It seems that he makes a rapid turn around in that short little book (only three chapters).  I am sure that it took longer than it appears.  But the last three verses summed up his change of heart toward his Salvation.  "Though there are no crops, no cattle, Yet I will be joyful and praise You because You lift me up."  Oh, that is the Blinese version ... my very own.  This week please pick up a version you enjoy reading and read Habakkuk ... especially the last three verses.

Here is the recipe for this tag:
Tag base:  ELEGANT EDGES, page 46,  cut @ 4.5" using Oblong and Shadow features.
Mountains:  WINTER FROLIC, page 54, <NorthPol> + Layer and <NrthPl-s> +Layer cut @ 3.75"
Deer:  CREATE a CRITTER, page 69 + Layer 1 and 2, cut @ 1.75"
Cloud:  CREATE a CRITTER, page 65, cut @ 2" using Phrase feature and Center Point button. (I modified this so it would not overtake the top of the tag.)
Font:  Arial (Microsoft)
Cardstock:  The Paper Company
Adhesives:  ATG, foam tape (Scotch) and Zig 2 Way Glue (EK Success)
You can find the products I used on my tag by clicking on the links above.

52 Questions Week #21 Challenge:
Create a project featuring your favorite Cartoon!

I called my sister and we talked about all the cartoons we loved as children.  It was a great time of remembrance.   Beverly was the real cartoon expert.  She remembered 'Fractured Fairy Tales', 'Dudley Doright', 'Rocky and Bullwinkle', 'Mr. Peabody', and many others.  My parents would join us some Saturday's for the fun.  There favorites were 'Wylie Coyote and the Roadrunner' (poor Wylie just couldn't catch the Roadrunner) and Bugs Bunny and Friends.  I chose to depict "The Flintstones".  So my tag is of 'Dino'.  Did you know that 'Dino' was the first purple dinosaur ... being prehistoric he predated 'Barney.'   Well on to my tag:

Tag base:  ELEGANT EDGES, page 46,  cut @ 4-1/2" using the Oblong and Shadow features.
"Dino":  CREATE a CRITTER, page 50 + Layer 1, 2 and 3, cut @ 3-1/2"
Bone:  CREATE a CRITTER, page 50 cut @ 1-1/2" using Accessory feature.
Collar:  CREATE a CRITTER, page 34, Layer 3 cut @ 5".  I cut this to fit "Dino's" neck.
Bell:  CREATE a CRITTER, page 35, Layer 3 cut @ 5".
Leaf:  CREATE a CRITTER, page 51 cut @ 3".
Cardstock: The Paper Company
Glitter Paper:  Kodak (I don't know who carries this, it is over 10 years old)
Sticker:  Alphabitties from Provo Craft
Ink:  Chestnut Roan Fluid Chalk Ink from Clearsnap
Adhesives:  ATG, foam tape from Scotch; Xyron 500; Zig 2 Way Glue Fine Tip from EK Success

52 Questions Week # 20 Challenge:
Create a tag/project featuring BUGS and CRAWLIES!

I had a great time with this week's theme: 'Bugs and Crawlies.' There are lots of crawlies I DO NOT like to think about (snakes, worms and grubs). I would be a gardener if I KNEW that I would not run into 'Crawlies.' Some of my favorite 'Bugs and Crawlies' are ladybugs, butterflies, caterpillars and lightning bugs. I only really like caterpillars because they turn into butterflies. Won't you come join us this week and make your favorite 'Bugs and Crawlies' on a tag or a mini album page? Each week we have a new theme for our tags and mini album pages (see guidelines below). Here are my 'Bugs and Crawlies' for this week:

Tag base: ELEGANT EDGES, page 46, cut @ 4-1/2" using the Oblong-s and Shadow-s features.
Dirt and Sign: WALK IN MY GARDEN, page 105, ; and cut @ 3-1/2".
Ladybugs: WALK IN MY GARDEN, page 118, and cut @ 3/4".
Butterfly: STRAIGHT FROM THE NEST, page 33 @ 1-3/4" using shift and Layer/Shadow feature.
Materials used were:
Cardstock (The Paper Company)
Patterned Cardstock (The Spring Fling Summer Days Combo Stack – DCWV)
Inks: Dark Brown Fluid Chalk (Colorbox)
Pure Red Writer and Chocolate Brown Writer (EK Success)
Adhesives: Xyron Create-a-Stick 150, ATG and Foam Tape (Scotch) and 2 Way Glue Pen (EK Success)

PDE Challenges - 52 Questions - Ch#17

Hello again:

This week at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges 52 Questions we are asking ourselves, "How many times have YOU moved?"  For my age I have moved very few times.  For a 16 year old it would be almost once a year (see tag below).  Some people have moved so many time that they have it down to a science how to pack and possibly how to pack quickly.  Me, it takes forever to get things ready for a move ... too many trinkets.  Here is my offering for this week:
I just love the little bird.  Here are the deets:  Tag and base cut @ 4-1/2" from ELEGANT EDGES, page 46 using Oblong+shift and Shadow+shift features.  Bird, birdhouse and cloud are from (my fave) CREATE A CRITTER, page 65.  Bird, , using Layer 1, Layer2 and Shadow feature, cut @ 2".  Birdhouse, using Accessory and Accessory+shift feature, cut @ 2-1/2".  Cloud, using Phrase+shift, cut @ 2".  All edges were brushed with Cream Brown fluid chalk ink by Color Box.  Card stock is by The Paper Company.  Glittered card stock is from DCWV, The Glitter Stack.  Green floral background paper is from DCWV, The Spring Fling Summer Days Combo Pack.  Accents used are Blue Rhinestone and Google eye with blue lid and lashes by Darice, and Numbers in Navy by Making Memories Little Letters.  Also used a Pure Blue Writer by Zig (EK Success).

This was a fun little project.  Oh, before I forget ... the Welcome sign is hand cut not part of the CAC cuts.  I used Fiskars Zig-Zag Edger for the edges.

Remember our Blog Candy for the month of April is the 12 x 12 collection Sweet Summertime pack by Echo Park.  Our sponsor this month is Darlene of Simple Southern Blessings!  One lucky USA tag participant will have a chance to win this wonderful Blog Candy this month.

So, use the link below to post your tag.

Also, don't forget to stop by Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges to check out the other Design Team member's super tags.

Celebrate w/Cake

Hello all:

Today I am sharing a new birthday card.  I just love my SIMPLY CHARMED cart.  I have a wonderful time working on these cheerful designs.  I have three views of this card, so please be patient ...

Okay, see the little green tab ... the next pic has a reveal ...

And here is the final pic with the tag completely revealed.  I popped the cake up on 1 layer of foam tape to allow the tag to move freely.  It was a bit of a squeeze!

I had a lot of fun with this card.  Here are the details:  ELEGANT EDGES, page 38 using the Oblong+shift and Shadow+shift features, cut at 4-3/4" and 2-1/4".  SIMPLY CHARMED, page 74 <BdayCake>, Layer 2, Layer 3, Layer 4 and Shadow features.  I did not want the face of Layer 1 on this card.

Card stock if from The Paper Company, except the pink and it is from Bazzill.  Yellow dot patterned paper is from DCWV, the Spring Fling Summer Day Combo stack.  The frosting (layer 4) is Fiesta Confetti from Scrap-Ease.  Celebrate sticker is from my stash and the tag pull is a border sticker from Birthday Sticker Borders by Sandylion.  Stamp is from Make a Wish Quotes by Fiskars.  Pineapple Glitter Glue from Joann's was used on the candle flames.  My favorite adhesives: ATG and foam tape by Scotch make their usual appearance as does 2 Way Glue by Zig (EK Success).

I will be entering this card in the following challenge:
Paper Playtime #72 - Birthday with a sentiment
The Pink Elephant Challenge #145 - Hello Sunshine - Use Yellow
Pile It On #17 - Sparkle and Shine

Toodles and Have a crafty evening,
Belinda

Journey Butterfly

I have a new creation for you.  It is a Butterfly card.  New creation reminds me of the verse in 2 Corinthians 5 ... It says "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (v.17 NIV)  I love that verse.  That is partly why I love butterflies.  They exemplify the verse notated.  As you know butterflies start as caterpillars ... the old becomes new.  WOW, God is so good!

I had fun making this card.  The background is from ELEGANT EDGES, page 25 using the Oblong+shift feature.  The butterfly can be found in CRICUT SAMPLER, page 28 and and WALK IN MY GARDEN, page 115 and .  I cut the background at 5" and the butterfly at 4-1/2".  I wanted a large butterfly.  Cardstock is from The Paper Company and Bazzill Basics (the pink is called Watermelon Sensation ... I love that name).  Glittered cardstock is from DCWV.  Patterned paper is from Pastel Garden by Colorbok.  Buttons are from the Citrus pak from Favorite Findings.  Journey is a sticker from Charming Thoughts by Bo Bynny Press.  Stitching is done with a White Jelly Roll pen.  Used my favorite adhesive ... my ATG and foame tape by Scotch, 2 Way Glue by EK Success and Ultra Thin Glue Dots.

I am sending this off to Girls Love Mail.  I saw an article in CardMaker magazine about sending encouraging mail to Gina Mulligan so she can forward it to breast cancer victims for encouragement during their journey.  This is a wonderful thing.  I know that my cousin and aunt would have loved encouraging mail during their journeys.  Go visit Gina Mulligan at http://www.ginamulligan.com/ .

I am also entering this into Mary's Cardz TV Challenge #8 - "Color Me A Rainbow!"   Create a card or craft project for any occasion using colors from the rainbow...pink, blue, green & yellow ONLY...you can also add small amounts of black & white.

Thanks for stopping by for a looksee.
